Building Stronger, More Inclusive Communities Through The Power Of Art

We proudly look to support initiatives that inspire creativity and community engagement like the two incredible projects hosted by The Bentway, Walking:Holding performance and its accompanying portrait series.

This groundbreaking performance invited participants to explore public space through a uniquely intimate lens. Created by award-winning artist Rosana Cade, Walking:Holding takes participants on a one-on-one journey through urban spaces, where they hold hands with a series of strangers. Each interaction offers a thought-provoking exploration of trust, connection, and identity in the context of our bustling cities. The performance challenges preconceived notions about personal boundaries and public interactions, creating a deeply moving and transformative experience. Details from the show are here.

Complementing the performance, the Walking:Holding Portrait Series provided a visual exploration of the themes of connection and diversity. This collection of striking portraits by Kirk Lisaj features individuals who have participated in Walking:Holding experience, highlighting their personal stories and perspectives. Through these images, the portrait series celebrates the unique yet universal experience of human connection in public spaces. Details about the series are here.

By supporting these initiatives the K. M. Hunter Charitable Foundation aims to create spaces where creativity and community can thrive. The Walking:Holding performance and portrait series exemplify our belief in the power of art to spark dialogue, challenge perceptions, and bring people together.
